About Us

Welcome

At Baldwin Methodist Co-Education School, we go beyond imparting knowledge; we instill essential skills, ethical values, discipline, and character traits necessary for our students to thrive in an ever-changing global society. Our founders' vision guides us as we prepare students to adapt, lead, and make a positive impact on the world around them.

Education is a collaborative endeavor, requiring dedication from teachers, motivation from students, and active involvement from parents. We prioritize open communication with parents and welcome their enthusiastic participation in their child's educational journey.

A Gist of Baldwin Institutions School History

The school, which was started in 1880 at #2 Alexandra Street with the aim to provide schooling for English-speaking Methodist children, went through much hardship during the early years, plagued with a paucity of funds and dwindling strength of children. It was on the brink of closure when Mr. John Baldwin gifted a sum of three thousand dollars to acquire land and buildings and keep the school from closing.

In retrospect, the humble beginning of the Baldwin institutions in 1880 with a few students and minimum facilities stands in stark contrast to its present stature and dignity, having a global perspective and meeting the demands of specialization in the methods of acquiring knowledge, with a view to improving the standard and quality of life, thus redefining the role of education. Today, the Baldwin institutions has a brilliant canvas of many shades and hues. It is certainly not the monotonous regularity of a stagnant social tradition but a continuous and uninterrupted move towards a dynamic and vibrant vision, which keeps us alive with new ideas, new avenues, and new inroads.

The institutions are now a symbol of the triumph of tradition and individual talent, the fruit of loyalty and service, righteousness and truth emanating from the warm, God-fearing heart of John Baldwin and other noble souls that led to its phenomenal growth. Today, Baldwin Institutions stands as the tallest landmark of quality education in the city.

The Baldwin Methodist Co-Education school-CBSE, is the newly started school which became operational on 10th June 2024. The school is steadily showing growth in students strength, and also an exponential expansion in terms of infrastructure, and dedicated staff has helped the school to move forward, imparting quality Christian education.

Bishop N.L. Karkare is the Chairman of our Institution and heads the Bangalore Regional Conference of the Methodist Church in India. He is committed to excellence in church life as well as in the field of education. Bishop N.L. Karkare is a great Administrator, Leader and Visionary. He will forever be remembered in Baldwin’s history for pioneering the establishment of both Baldwin International School- Cambridge-IGCSE /AS/A level and Baldwin Methodist Co-Education School- CBSE. Having spent considerable years of his ministry working with zeal and dedication for the rural poor, Dalits, and Tribals, concerning their basic issues of land, food, shelter, education, and rights, his unwavering commitment to his mission and his determined efforts to take everyone along in the realization of God’s plan for his people mark him out to be a wonderful human being and a wise leader.

Education today is a complex task, which is made more difficult by rapid social, economic, and cultural changes. Its specific mission remains the integral formation of the humane person, which is the perception of our Chairman. He believes that educators are persons called by God to a ministry of education and who demonstrate their dedicated service with all seriousness of purpose, honesty in character, and joyfulness in service.

Our Chairman believes that the aspiration to excellence and quality leads to generations who have high standards of how they use their time, energy, and commitment. His progressive thoughts have helped the Institution to upgrade the educational base with a broader spectrum of infrastructure, making the learning process more purposeful and life- oriented.

Under the dynamic and committed Chairmanship of our Bishop N.L.
